  4. Nursery Aide / Nursery Ministry Specialist

    1. This position shall be called Nursery Ministry Specialist (formerly, Nursery Aide)

    2. It shall be supervised by the pastor, and is accountable before the nursery and personnel committee for policies, procedures and practices (see By-Laws, III-10).   

    3. Need:   The Nursery Ministry Specialist will address the growing need of nursery care, ages 0-3, of the ministry of First Baptist Church of Wahiawa.   In the past year, 3 nurseries were joined by 2 new births and one more on the way.   

    4. Historically, FBC of Wahiawa has employed this position and called it Nursery Aide.  

    5. The line item is 322 and it will be renamed for the 2025 budget proposal as Nursery Ministry Specialist.

    6. This position shall be a part of the “church officers and staff” of the By-Laws section II.  It shall have the following the criterias: 

      1. Qualification:  Loves and works with children; ability to communicate, build and work with a team of nursery workers and volunteers. 

      2. Role.  The Nursery Ministry Specialist shall be a member of the church and must have the experience of working with ages 0-3, willing to care for ages 0-3 and build a team, organize, administer, manage schedules, resource and communicate to volunteers and workers.   

    7. The church shall provide continuous training for this department child safety and first aid.   

  5. Interns:

    1. Who and what are interns?  Internship individuals are not employees and not paid, but they may receive other benefits such as stipends for housing and transportation. Most are ministry students or recent graduates who work on a temporary basis, often for academic credit.  Like employees, interns are entitled to workers’ compensation if they are injured on the job.   

    2. Need:  The church is in need of ministry interns to facilitate the ministry work.  Ministry internship benefits interns as they look into widening and making better their future employment.  Ministry interns benefit employers because it gives them experience in the field they need with no obligation to make a commitment.  

    3. The church can make a commitment depending on what resource are available or what needs are indicated.

    4. Internship emphases can be offered on the following emphases under the work of the pastor and ministry staff. 

      1. Music Worship and Membership Development

      2. Evangelism, Follow Up and Missions 

      3. Language Ministry: Japanese, Filipino 

      4. Younger Childrens’ ministry Preschool and Kindergarten

      5. Children's ministry Grades 1-6

      6. Youth Ministry Grades 7-12

      7. College Ministry

      8. Young Adults and Career

      9. Military Ministry 

      10. Seniors and older adult ministry ages 65-100

      11. Adult working ministry ages 45-65
